Aloo posto/ Authentic Bengali recipe potato with poppy seeds/ khuskhus and potato recipe

Today I am going to make authentic Bengali recipe aloo posto. Actually it is a requested recipes from my viewers and subscribers. So let’s quickly go through the ingredients.

  1. 50 grams of poppy seeds
  2. 4-5 pieces potato( cut into cube size)
  3. ½ tbsp of onion seeds or Kalo jeera
  4. ½ tbsp of sugar
  5. ½ tbsp of turmeric powder(optional)
  6. 2 pieces of red chili
  7. 2 pieces of green chili
  8. 2 tbsp of mustered oil
  9. ½ cup of water
  10. Salt to taste

That’s all you need to make aloo posto. So let get started with the dish.

  1. At first soak the poppy seeds for about 2-3 hours then grind it with water in a mixture, Which I already did it.
  2. Now in a Kadai add mustard oil, let it heat. Once the oil is hot then add Kalo jeera, cube size potatoes, salt, little bit sugar and little bit turmeric powder.
  3. Mix it well and cook for about 3-4 minutes. Now time to add poppy seeds paste green chili.
    Mix it well.
  4. Cook it for about 3-4 minutes. stir it continuously. Into this I am going to add ½ cup of water, mix it well.
  5. Cover it and cook it in medium flame until the water is soaked into potatoes.
  6. Once all the water dries out then turn off gas flame.
  7. Now I will take it out in a bowl. Serve it hot with steamed rice or roti.
