Gulab Jamun Recipe
Welcome to Cook with Sonali. Today I am going to make gulab jamun. It’s popular in South Asian countries as a syrup dessert.
So let’s quickly go through the ingredients.
For the dough we need
- 1 cup of milk powder
- 1 tbsp clarified butter
- 2 tbsp of all purpose flour
- ½ tbsp of baking powder
- 1/3 cup of milk
- Oil for frying
For the syrup we need
- 2 cups of sugar
- 1 cup of water
- 4-5 pieces of cardamom pods
- 4 pinch of saffron
That’s all you need for the gulab jamun. So let’s get started with the dish.
At first we need a bowl, add milk powder, all purpose flour, and little bit of baking soda. Mix all ingredients nicely. Now add butter and mix it well.
Add milk and you need to knead the dough until it turns smooth. Once the dough becomes smooth then cover it and leave it for 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes divide the dough into small pieces of ball. The balls should be free of any cracks and lines.
Meanwhile I will take a kadai, add sugar and water. Stir it well. Cook it for 5 minutes.
Now I will add oil in kadai. Once the oil is hot reduce the heat at low flame then add balls one by one. Cook for about 4-5 minutes until it turns golden brown.
Once the gulab jamun turns golden brown then I will take it out on paper towel.
Immediately add in to hot syrup and let it get soaked well for about 2-3 hours.
Gulab Jamun is ready.
