Kadai Chicken

Welcome to Cook with Sonali. Today I am going to make kadai chicken. It is Popular delicious dish in many restaurants and dhaba. Kadai chicken is cooked in  gravy with spices and capsicums onion also. This is a very tasty  and easy chicken recipe.

So let’s have a look at the ingredients

Ingredients :

  • 600 gram chicken pieces
  • 1 tbsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsps ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp coriander seeds
  • 1 tbsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp black pepper
  • Cinnamon, cloves, cardamom
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp red chili paste
  • 1 big tomato chopped
  • Chopped green, red, yellow capsicum ( I am using 3 colours of capsicum you can use any 1 colour also)
  • Chopped onion
  • 1 tbsp garam masala
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp butter / Ghee ( optional )

 

That’s all for the kadai chicken. So let’s get started with the dish.
Kadai Chicken
At first we  need chicken,  add turmeric, salt,1 tbsp oil mix them nicely and keep it aside for 30 minutes.

 

Meanwhile  we need a kadai add cumin seeds, coriander seeds, black pepper, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, stir it well for few minutes. Once it is done I will make a coarse paste with grinder. Now kadai masala is ready.

 

Heat oil in kadai, once the oil is hot I will add chopped onion, and cook until it turns golden brown. Now add chopped tomato ,stir it well . Once the tomato is soft moist then I will take it out in a mixie bowl and make it a soft paste.

Now heat oil in kadai once the oil is hot add marinated chicken pieces into it.Now I will add ginger, garlic paste and stir it well. Cover with lid and cook it in medium flame for about 8-10 minutes. After 10 minutes I will open the lid add onion tomato paste, then add kadai masala and red chilli paste. I will add red chili paste to bring more vibrant color in the dish. Stir it well and cook for about few minutes until the masala incorporates with the chicken. Once it is done I will add chopped capsicum, chopped onion mix them nicely

Now time to add 2 tbsp cream in the chicken, stir it well

Lastly I will add some garam masala, mix it well then add chopped coriander leaves. For more enhance taste you can add 1 tbsp ghee or butter.

 

Now kadai chicken is done . Serve with fried rice or stream rice.
