Lauki kofta curry recipe / Bottle gourd kofta curry

Today I am going to make lauki kofta curry. It is tasty and famous North Indian recipe.

So let’s have a look at the ingredients.

 

Ingredients :-

 

  1. 1 cup of grated lauki
  2. 6 tbspsof gram flour
  3. 1 tbsp of turmeric powder
  4. 1 pinch of asafoetida
  5. Chopped coriander leaves
  6. 1 pcs of chopped onion
  7. 2tbsp of onion paste
  8. 1 tbsp of ginger garlic paste
  9. 1 tbsp of cumin powder
  10. 1 tbsp of coriander powder
  11. ½ tbsp of Garam masala
  12. 4 tbsp of yogurt
  13. 1 tbsp of sugar
  14. 1 tbsp of ghee
  15. Oil as needed
  16. Salt to taste

 

That’s all you need to make lauki kofta curry. So let’s get started with the dish.

  1. At first take take grated lauki then squeeze it. Once the all juice are taken out then keep it aside. I will use the juice in the curry.
  2. Now add gram flour, red chili powder, chopped green chili, and salt. Mix all the ingredients nicely. Do not add any water.
  3. Once the mixture is ready then take some portion on your hand palm. Out of it make a shape of ball.
  4. Likewise I will make all the balls. See all balls are ready.
  5. Heat oil in Kadai. Once the oil is hot then add the balls one by one. Cook it in medium to low flame until it turns golden brown.
  6. If you cook koftas over high flame it will turn dark immediately but the inside will remain uncooked.
  7. Once  both the sides turn golden brown then take it out on paper towel so all excess oil is soaked up.
  8. Now again heat oil in the same Kadai.
  9. Add cumin seeds, and red chili, let it splatter, now add chopped onion and saute for couple of minute.
  10. Add onion paste, ginger garlic paste, and tomato puree.
  11. Mix it well and cook for about 3-4 minutes.
  12. Now add all spices like turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and red chili powder.
  13. Mix it well and cook for couple of minutes.
  14. Now whisk  the yogurt and make it creamy consistency.
  15. Add yogurt into this mixture. Mix it nicely.
  16. Add little bit of sugar for taste. Now add lauki water and little bit of normal water.
  17. Cook it for about 5-6 minutes.
  18. Now add lauki kofta into this gravy. Add 1 tbsp of ghee and Garam masala. Cook for about  2 minutes.
  19. Lauki kofta curry is almost ready, now I will garnish with some chopped coriander leaves.
  20. Now I will take it out in a bowl and serve it hot.
